Common questions, and how our apps can help.
- How do I stop faces from getting cut off in iPhone photo widgets?
The built-in Photos widget on iPhone crops the center of each photo automatically, so faces and heads often get cut off. To choose what shows yourself, use the app Photo Widget: Crop & Position. You drag and pinch each photo inside the same frame as your widget, so you can keep faces in view.

- How can I fit a whole portrait photo into a wide iPhone photo widget, and fill the empty sides with blur or a solid color?
With Photo Widget: Crop & Position, you can fit a whole portrait photo into a wide (Medium) widget without cutting anything off. There's no need to edit the photo or make a new image: just shrink it in the app, and it appears in the widget on your Home Screen as is. When you shrink a photo and the sides are left empty, choose how to fill them: Blur (a blurred copy of the same photo), Solid (Auto, a color that matches the photo), Stretch Edges, or Choose Color. You choose for each photo, and all four are free.

- Is there a photo widget for the iPhone Home Screen that shows the date the photo was taken?
With Photo Widget: Crop & Position, your Home Screen photo widget can show the date each photo was taken, at the bottom left. Just turn on Show Date Taken in the photo set's settings. It's free. The date comes from the date taken recorded in the photo, so there's nothing to type. Photos without a recorded date simply don't show one. You turn it on or off for each photo set.

- Is there a to-do app with just today and tomorrow, like a paper planner?
To-Do List - DayTodo is a to-do app with just two pages: today and tomorrow. It doesn't line up everything ahead, so today's tasks don't get buried. Tasks you write on tomorrow's page move to today automatically when the date changes. Unfinished tasks aren't lost either; they carry over to the next day.

- Is there a checklist app that works like a paper memo pad you can tear pages off?
CheckPad - Checklist is a checklist app you use like a grid memo pad. Write one list per page and check items off as you go. When you're done with a list, tear the page off along the perforation. Torn pages aren't thrown away, so you can look back at them or use them again.

- Is there a habit tracker that lets me log why I missed a day and review those reasons each month?
Habit Tracker - Hibitsumi lets you log why you missed a day with a tap: Didn't have time, Forgot, Felt unwell, Wasn't in the mood, Plans changed, Too hard, or Other (choose as many as apply). You can add a note for that day, too. Each habit's page gathers that month's missed-day reasons in Reasons for Misses, counted by reason. Turn on Reasons for Misses in Section Display Settings, and you can review your missed-day reasons each month in the monthly review, too: how often each reason came up, and which reasons come up most for each habit. The yearly review shows the year's totals. It's all free.

- Is there a goal app that links my personal motto and life goals down to this month's goals?
Goal Tracker - Asuega is a goal app that links your personal motto and life goals down to this month's goals with one line, so you always see why this month's step matters. Put your personal motto (in the app, Words to Live By: a line you want to keep telling yourself) at the very top, with your life goals, this year's goals, and this month's goals below it. Monthly goals hang under yearly goals, and yearly goals under life goals; each card shows the name of the goal above it.
