Hibitsumi
Established: September 1, 2026 / Last updated: November 4, 2026
Hibitsumi, a habit tracker (shown on the App Store as “Habit Tracker - Hibitsumi”; the “App”), is developed and operated by individual developer Atsushi Ito (the “Operator”). The Operator respects your privacy and handles information as described below.
1. Information stored by the App
The App requires no account, name, or email address. The following data is generally stored only on your device and is not sent to a server operated by the Operator:
- Habit names, notes, creation dates, weekdays, and monthly or yearly recurrence settings;
- Completion history and hidden status;
- Reminder times, display, theme, language, biometric-lock, and other settings; and
- Premium-entitlement status and whether Premium was held previously.
The Operator does not run a server that stores your habit data and cannot access that data.
On-device AI (Apple Intelligence)
The monthly report's analysis text, and the suggestions generated from the reasons you recorded for missed days, are produced using the on-device language model provided by iOS (Foundation Models / Apple Intelligence). Your habit names, completion history, and reason notes are not sent outside your device for this processing. The generated text is also stored only on your device. On devices or iOS versions that do not support this feature, the analysis falls back to text produced by calculation alone and no suggestions are shown.
2. Advertising
Starting with version 2.0.6, the App shows no ads and includes no usage-analytics tools. It does not collect information to track you and does not request tracking permission under Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework.
In version 2.0.5 and earlier, the free version displayed non-personalized ads through Google Mobile Ads (AdMob). Google's handling of information in that case follows the Google Privacy Policy.
3. In-app purchases and subscriptions
The App offers Monthly Premium, Yearly Premium, and Lifetime Premium. Monthly and Yearly Premium are automatically renewing subscriptions unless canceled, subject to the Apple App Store terms.
Purchases, billing, cancellations, refunds, and payment information are managed through the Apple App Store (StoreKit). To unlock Premium and restore purchases, the App receives product identifiers, purchase status, and active-subscription status from the App Store. The Operator does not directly receive or store credit-card information.
The App also offers optional purchases to support the developer (tips; they can be bought repeatedly and unlock no features). These are likewise processed through the Apple App Store (StoreKit), and the Operator does not directly receive or store payment information for them.
4. Notifications and adding to Reminders
Reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device using the habit name and chosen time. Habit information and notification tokens are not sent to the Operator's server for remote push delivery. Notification permission can be changed in your device settings.
In addition, if you turn on “Add to Reminders” in the settings screen, the App requests access to Reminders in order to add monthly and yearly review items to Apple's Reminders app. Only review items created by the App are added; the App does not read your existing reminders or transmit them to the Operator's server. If you decline, the App simply does not add reminders and otherwise behaves the same.
5. Biometric authentication
If biometric lock is enabled, authentication is performed by your device's operating system. The App receives only the success or failure result and does not access, store, or transmit fingerprints, facial scans, or other biometric data.
6. Backups and data sharing
At your request, the App can export and import habit data as a JSON backup and export completion history as a CSV file. Your device's share interface lets you choose where to save or send exported files. Information sent to iCloud Drive, AirDrop, cloud storage, or another destination you select is handled under that service's privacy policy. The Operator does not receive exported files.
Automatic iCloud backup
When “Back Up to iCloud Automatically” is on, your habits, completion history, daily notes, and reviews are saved automatically to a storage area reserved for the App in your own iCloud (Apple) account. This data is managed by Apple's iCloud, is not transmitted to the Operator's servers, and cannot be accessed by the Operator. Automatic backup is a Premium feature and can be turned off at any time in the App's settings (restoring from an iCloud backup is available in the free version as well).
Saving to Photos
Only when you choose to save a share-card image to Photos, the App requests add-only access to your photo library and saves that image to the Photos app on your device. The App does not read the contents of your photo library, does not modify or delete existing photos, and does not transmit saved images to the Operator's servers. If you decline, all features other than saving remain available.
Data sharing with the developer's goal app
If the goal app “Asuega” by the same developer is installed on the same device, habit summaries and the links between goals and habits are exchanged on the device only through an iOS App Group (a shared on-device storage area). This exchange stays on your device and is not transmitted to the Operator's servers or to any third party.
Opening another app from a habit
If you set an "App to Open" for a habit (a suggested app, an address you enter, or the name of a shortcut), it is stored on your device as part of that habit (and is included in backups). When you tap the button on the Today tab, iOS opens that app, page, or shortcut. For a shortcut, its name is passed to the Shortcuts app. This information is never sent to the developer's servers. Information in the app or site you open is handled under its own policy.
Apple Watch and widgets
If you use the Apple Watch app, today's habits and their completion status are synchronized between your iPhone and Apple Watch through Apple's WatchConnectivity framework. Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets read a summary stored in an App Group on the same device in order to show today's habits. Both stay on your devices and are not transmitted to the Operator's servers or to any third party.
7. Purposes and third-party disclosure
The App handles information to provide habit tracking, completion history, streaks, notifications, adding items to Reminders, display preferences, on-device AI analysis text and suggestions, showing habits on Apple Watch and widgets, automatic iCloud backup, saving images to Photos, purchase verification, support purchases, and Premium features.
The Operator does not disclose or sell user information except as described in this Policy, when you select a sharing destination, or when required by law. Payment providers handle information under their respective privacy policies.
8. Children's privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13, and the Operator does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Retention, deletion, and your choices
On-device data remains until you delete it in the App or remove the App from your device. Hiding a habit is not deletion; its data and history remain on the device. Exported JSON and CSV files are under your control and must be deleted by you when no longer needed. Backups saved automatically to iCloud are not deleted when you delete the App; you can delete them from the iCloud storage management screen in the iOS Settings app.
Store-transaction information is retained and deleted according to each third party's policy. Notification and biometric permissions can be changed in device settings.
10. Security
The App relies on operating-system facilities for on-device storage, permissions, and biometric authentication. We recommend protecting your device with a passcode and keeping its operating system up to date.
11. Changes to this Policy
This Policy may be updated when laws, App features, or third-party services change. Material changes will be announced on this page or in the App. Changes apply when posted on this page. This Policy reflects the App's current implementation and will be updated if the App's data practices change.
