DayJournal - 3-Line Diary

Effective: October 2, 2026 / Last updated: October 13, 2026

DayJournal - 3-Line Diary (the “App”) respects your privacy and handles information as described below. The App has no accounts, and the developer never receives your diary or photos.

1. Information handled by the App

Information you enter

Your diary entries (three lines or free writing), the day's feelings (several per day, including the names and emoji of feelings you create with Premium), weekly notes, weekly sticky notes (color, position, and label), the bookmarked page, markers on the monthly calendar (color and note), prompt text, the text and name on the cover, and settings such as font, text size, ink color, rule lines, background, paper condition, cover color, the first day of the week, sound effects, animations, language, Look Back, and reminder time are stored on your device. This information is not transmitted to the developer's servers.

Photos and camera

To add a photo or video to your diary, the App uses the photo picker provided by iOS. Through this picker, the App receives only the photos and videos you choose. The App asks for camera access only when you use “Take a Photo” or “Record a Video”. Photos and videos you take are used only to keep them in your diary and are not saved to your photo library.

For each photo you add, the App stores resized copies (in JPEG format) within the App. Your original photos are not changed. The resized copies do not include location or other capture metadata. When you remove a photo from your diary, its copies are deleted as well.

Reading your photo library (iPhone records)

Only if you turn on “Photos” under “iPhone Records” in Settings, the App asks for access to your photo library. Within the access you allow, it shows the photos and screenshots taken that day as small images beside your diary. For this, it reads the capture date, the type (whether it is a screenshot), and small display images. Only for photos you choose to “Add to Diary” does the App store resized copies within the App. The App never changes or deletes photos in your library and never sends them to the developer's servers.

Videos and voice memos

With Premium, you can keep videos and voice memos in your diary. Videos you record or choose in the photo picker are stored within the App as resized copies (in MP4 format) with a small image. The App asks for microphone access only when you record a voice memo or a video. Recordings and videos are stored within the App and are deleted when you remove them from your diary. They are never sent to the developer's servers.

Health, Calendar, and Reminders (iPhone records)

Only if you turn on each item under “iPhone Records” in Settings, the App asks for the corresponding permission. If you allow it, the App reads the following and shows it beside that day's diary:

This information is only read and displayed on your device; the App does not store it, write or change it, or send it to the developer's servers. Tapping an event or reminder opens the developer's calendar app (CalNote), or the iPhone Calendar or Reminders app, passing the date (and the event or reminder identifier). Tapping your steps opens the developer's step app, or the Health app, passing the date. These only switch apps on your device; no information is sent outside.

Sharing a day and saving to Photos

If you use “Share”, the App turns the chosen day's page into an image or text and hands it to the recipient you choose. You decide what to include (added photos, events, activity, and photos taken that day). Only when you use “Save to Photos” does the App ask for permission to add to your photo library and save the image there.

Storage shared with the developer's apps

The App stores the progress of the sticker book (a feature shared by the developer's apps) and the number of days you have opened the App in an on-device storage area shared by the developer's apps (an App Group). The number of days is also used to unlock paper and cover conditions (Worn and Vintage). This information stays on your device and is not sent to the developer's servers.

Export as text

If you use “Export as Text”, the App puts your diary entries and weekly notes into text and hands it to the recipient you choose.

Manual backup and restore

If you use “Export Backup” in the settings screen, the App creates a backup file containing your diary, feelings, photos, weekly notes, sticky notes, and settings (videos and voice memos are not included), and hands it to the destination you choose (such as the Files app, AirDrop, or email). “Restore from Backup” reads the file you select on your device. Neither is sent to the developer's servers. Exported files are kept wherever you save them.

Automatic iCloud backup

When the Premium “iCloud Auto Backup” setting is on, your diary, feelings, weekly notes, sticky notes, and settings, along with resized copies of the photos you added and your videos and voice memos, are saved automatically to a storage area reserved for the App in your own iCloud Drive (Apple). This data is managed by Apple's iCloud, is not transmitted to the developer's servers, and cannot be accessed by the developer. The App keeps up to five recent backups and periodically removes photos that are no longer used by any backup from this storage area (videos and voice memos are currently not removed automatically). You can turn this feature off at any time in the App's settings. Restoring from an iCloud backup is available without Premium.

Notifications

If you turn on reminders and allow notifications, the App schedules one reminder a day at the time you choose as a local notification on your device. Notification content and times are processed on your device and are not transmitted to the developer's servers. Reminders are off by default.

Purchase information

Premium (a one-time purchase) and “Support the Developer” tips are processed through Apple's StoreKit. Apple manages payment information, and the developer does not receive payment card details. The App checks purchase status and entitlements to provide purchased features.

Biometric authentication

If you enable the app lock, authentication is performed on your device using Face ID, Touch ID, or the device passcode through Apple's services. Neither the App nor the developer receives or stores biometric data.

Rating requests

The App may show Apple's standard rating prompt. To decide when to show it, the App stores, only on your device, the date you first used the App, the number of days you opened it, the number of days you wrote in your diary, and the date and version of the last request. This information is not transmitted to the developer's servers. Ratings and reviews are managed by Apple.

Advertising, analytics, AI, and tracking

The App shows no ads and includes no usage-analytics tools. It does not use AI to read or analyze your diary, and it never sends your diary to outside services. It does not collect information to track you and does not request tracking permission under Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework.

Links to external sites

“More Apps by This Developer”, “Write a Review”, and “Feedback & Bug Reports” in the settings screen, and the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy links on the Premium screen, open external pages in your browser or the App Store. “Feedback & Bug Reports” opens a Google Form, and the developer receives what you enter and submit. Information handling on those sites is governed by their own policies.

2. Storage and deletion

Information you enter, copies of photos, videos, and voice memos, and App settings are generally stored on your device. Depending on your device settings, they may be included in an operating-system backup. Deleting the App deletes information stored by the App on the device, except for information that may remain in an OS backup.

Backups saved automatically to iCloud are not deleted automatically when you delete the App or turn off automatic backup. You can delete them in the iOS Settings app under [your name] → iCloud → Manage Storage (or Manage Account Storage) → DayJournal. Backup files and text files you exported manually can be deleted from wherever you saved them.

3. Disclosure to third parties

The developer does not sell or disclose information you enter into the App to third parties, except where required by law. Apple services are used for payment processing, iCloud backup, and reading Health, Calendar, Reminders, and Photos as described above.

4. Children's privacy

The App is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children.

5. Security

The App uses on-device storage, operating-system permission controls, and authentication features as appropriate to the nature of the information handled.

6. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated to reflect changes to the App, third-party services, or applicable laws. Material changes will be announced on this page or within the App.

7. Contact
